Furniture Design
This project explores the qualities and materiality of folded sheet metal in furniture design.

A kit of parts comes together to assemble a robust shelving system that can accommodate books and objects. All parts are cut and folded from 1/8 inch metal sheet in a way that amplifies the inherent structure of the material and forms a coherent whole. The elements include the base, the shelf, the free moving metal partitions/boxes, and the exterior envelope that attaches to the base and shelf through bolts in order to stabilize the entire structure. The free moving metal partition/boxes allow for a relative amount of flexibility in the otherwise rigid structure. The user can arrange them freely based on their needs and depending on the spacing, the rhythm of the "facade" can vary significantly.

The surface is left completely untreated and raw to emphasize the true materiality of the object.
